Karly is a licensed physical therapist and has been teaching Pilates since 2005. She then pursued an opportunity in Bethesda, MD, where she was able to practice Pilates-based rehabilitation in a private outpatient orthopedic setting. Karly completed her mat and apparatus certification from the Professional Health and Fitness Institute in 2005, and pursued  additional comprehensive certifications from Power Pilates in 2012 and 2014, and 2015.  Karly has had extensive training in manual physical therapy (including myofascial release, strain counterstain, myokinetic alignment restoration, and postural restoration with emphasis on breathing) and has found that incorporating Pilates-based exercises with manual therapy and posture alignment retraining has been the key to treating clients with chronic pain, overuse injuries, and pain from postural imbalance.

An active part of the triathlete community, Karly hopes to encourage people in Delmar with chronic pain or fear of exercise/Pilates to come out of the woodwork, and allow themselves to benefit from transforming their bodies with Pilates.

Tammy Thomas Faist, CPI

Certified Power Pilates Instructor;

Certified Healing Touch Practitioner

Tammy was introduced to Pilates while assisting a colleague, she had met through her Healing Touch Certification Program, with her Restorative Yoga Workshops.  Through her experience with Healing Touch, and assisting yoga instructors with aligning students' bodies during Restorative Yoga, Tammy developed an interest in Pilates.  She reached out to Free Movement Pilates to begin training on the Reformer with her husband.  Tammy was able to rid herself of chronic neck and shoulder pain/tension she had developed working at her desk job through her experience as a Pilates student.  Karly encouraged Tammy to get certified after witnessing Tammy's enthusiasm for this new exercise, positive energy and spirit, and strong body awareness and mind-body connection.  Tammy has received her Pilates Mat Certification through the Power Pilates Training Program in NYC, and has received her Level 1 Reformer Training through Balanced Body, another largely accredited Internation Training Program.  She will be continuing on with the Comprehensive Training Program through Balanced Body throughout the next year.  Tammy will be offering private Healing Touch Energy Therapy sessions in addition to offering Beginner Mat and Reformer Privates and Group Classes.

Melissa Hurt, RYT

Registered Yoga Instructor

Lessac Certified Trainer,

Public Speaking Coach

Melissa recently relocated from Northern Virginia where she taught yoga at Sun and Moon Yoga Studio and River's Edge Yoga.  She took her first yoga class in her late twenties and finally found a place where she could feel her breath with ease.  Melissa teaches from a place of curiosity, devotion, and wonder of what the body/mind/spirit are capable of once integrated and engaged in the moment.  There is a certain magic that happens when one feels her/his breath move inside the body and taps the stillness of the spirit.  Melissa encourages her students to approach this space with a sense of humor, reverence, and ease.  Whether exploring a yoga sequence, voice or speech, her students find ways to connect with her/himself and the moment of expression, feeling grounded and light at once.

Melissa became a certified trainer of Lessac's Kinesensic voice and movement work in 2010, and a certified yoga teacher in 2012.  She is deepening her yoga studies in Sun and Moon Yoga Studio's 500-hour program.  She has taught many levels of yoga including prenatal, postnatal, traditional Hatha yoga, and Vinyasa.

Students can expect that she will care for their experience and find ways to deepen their understanding of sensation in the expressive moment so they can find a connection to their true selves.  Melissa is the owner of Integrative Studio, LLC and is the author of Arthur Lessac's Embodied Actor Training (Routledge).
